I am looking for any information about the mothers side of my family originally from Antrim County.
Here is what I know
George Alexander Crawford (machinest & factory owner) married Marianne Cully 23/10/1886 in Belfast. They lived in Georges hometown of Lurgan. left for Canada in Aug 1899. I have the information from there. I believe Georges father to be William.

Hello

The way forward with this research is by tracking down the couples marriage certificate.
This document will be of special value as it will give the date and place of the marriage, confirm the full names, ages, occupations and home addresses of both bride and groom but most importantly the names, addresses and occupations of both fathers.

All other research into the history of the family would then be based on this additional information.

best regards

Hello,

From the info you have it sounds like an "on line " transcription.
The full certificate will also give you home addresses.
These addresses are vital in tracing any family but it a city such as Belfast it can be very difficult as people moved about a great deal.

Hello Moren,

Just to clear something up, the General Register Office does not hold any pre 1922 marriages.
These are held in the local Registers Office

To order a certificate with "reference supplied" you need the
Registers District {For Belfast 1-15} the Church in question the full names of both bride and groom , the exact date of the marriage, The Book Number, the Page number and the Entry number.

The Vol and page as quoted on these indexes mean nothing to them.

best regards

I am just finishing the Crawford family information here in Canada and will be moving forward to Ireland information if I can locate any. Admin suggested getting the certificate of marriage which would be great if I was in Ireland but I have a question. Is there a book or CD available that lists businesses and their owners from say 1880 to 1900. Here in Ontarion we have available at local libraries a Local Business Directory. It has been copied onto Micro Film but is esy to use.I would like to find information online myself on my family as I have four roots back to Ireland.
Any help would be appreciated.
Kevin

That is quite interesting although I did not find any specific to him. He left for Canada in 1899 and will be too young in the 1880 to own a business.
Is Proni searchable?
